  • IEI’s projects integrally involve Information, Training, Analysis, Advocacy and Action (INTAAACT). Researchers and analysts are committed to making a difference in developing countries.
  • Regional and country projects are initiated from the offices in São Paolo, Cape Town and Bangalore.
  • IEI also promotes international projects and programmes which involve the collaboration and networking of analysis across Latin America, Africa and Asia.

  • the publication of books, reports, articles and brochures to disseminate the results of analysis regionally and internationally 
  • advocacy actions, including newspaper articles, active participation in influential workshops and meetings, and professional involvement in policy, regulatory, utility and civil society institutions
  • training programmes for professional staff in government, regulators, utilities and civil society
  • the Fellowship Programme to educate the next generation of energy analysts the journal Energy for Sustainable Development, established in May 1994, with the majority of articles and letters coming from developing countries
